Forged by hand and passed down by ear
Born in the dusty border towns of South Texas, forged by hand and passed down by ear, this sound has survived decades not because of money or fame, but out of pure, stubborn love. And here is the best part: this history is not just ours it belongs to everyone who hears it.
What you will experience on tour
See the instruments, photographs, and personal memorabilia of the pioneers who built conjunto music from nothing, collected over twenty years by our founder, Reynaldo Avila Sr. Hear original historic recordings from the legendary IDEAL Records archives in San Benito, and tune into our on-site internet radio station playing past and present classics live. Walk among the legends in our Hall of Fame gallery from early foundational masters to modern icons like Jaime de Anda inducted in 2023. If you visit on a Tuesday night, witness the living tradition firsthand during our community accordion classes, where the next generation learns note by note.
